Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the LightningPDF service at lightningpdf.dev ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LightningPDF provides an API and web interface for generating PDF documents from HTML, Markdown, and templates. The Service includes PDF generation, post-processing (merge, split, compress, protect), template management, and cloud storage of generated PDFs.

3. Account Terms

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service
  • You must provide a valid email address and maintain accurate account information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys
  • You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
  • One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account

4. Billing and Credits

The Service operates on a credit-based system. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance that refreshes on your billing cycle. Credits do not roll over between billing periods. Overage usage beyond your plan limits is billed at your plan's overage rate. Subscriptions are managed through Gumroad and are subject to Gumroad's terms.

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If your subscription is refunded or disputed, your account will be downgraded to the free plan immediately.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit enforcement, or plan restrictions
  • Use the Service as a proxy, relay, or for SSRF attacks
  • Share API keys publicly or use them in client-side code
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Upload malicious files, ZIP bombs, or exploit post-processing endpoints

6. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all content you submit to the Service and all PDFs generated from your content. LightningPDF claims no intellectual property rights over your input content or generated output. Templates in the public marketplace are licensed as specified by their creators.

7. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or service interruptions.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIGHTNINGPDF SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted, and any remaining credits will be forfeited.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
